Exciting Updates From Code Galaxy: New Roblox Course & Inaugural Demo Week
As the kiddos start the new school year, ready to meet new people, learn new concepts, and tackle new challenges, we’ve also got some new stuff going on here at Code Galaxy, the #1 after-school program for students & parents!
Check out our latest developments and how we hope to help our students get the most out of their weekly coding classes.
New Course: Roblox
You asked and we listened. We’re thrilled to introduce our latest course — Roblox.
If you’re a parent who doesn’t know what Roblox is, your kid does. Statistics show that over 50% of kids under the age of 16 have played Roblox in 2020 alone. Put simply, Roblox is a platform where users go to play games. However, Roblox itself isn’t a game — it’s a hub where people play games made by other developers. So, for you millennial parents out there, think of Roblox as the new Steam (interesting times we live in).
What makes Roblox of particular interest is that it deals real money and is open source — games are created by actual users, so learning the in’s and out’s of the platform is beneficial in more ways than one.

To tell you a little more about what kids will get out of our class: In this beginner Roblox coding course, students learn the basics of the Roblox Studio editor and use Lua programming to create Roblox games. The course takes approximately 12 weeks to complete and is perfect for students from 2nd to 5th grade.

New Activity: Demo Week
We put a ton of work into creating an environment for kids & parents that’s conducive to growth, and with that, we’re proud of our courses, curriculum, and community here at Code Galaxy. However, we still ask ourselves; “What else can we do to help make classes more enjoyable? What more should we do to ensure that everyone in our community (parents, students & teachers) are benefiting the most and as often as possible?”
We’ve discovered another answer to those questions that we hope resonates with you all. Introducing our new Demo Weeks. Code Galaxy’s Demo Weeks are essentially epic show and tell days where students will have the opportunity to show off what they’ve been working on in class by means of a short presentation.
Students can choose one project they’ve been working on for the past quarter and present that to the rest of the class and audience of parents. Presentations will be about five minutes long and will be structured as follows:
- Intro – Name, age, how long have they been with Code Galaxy/coding, which coding languages they know, what they are currently working on and what’s the project they’re going to present today.
- Presentation – share their screen, tell how it works, show the code, explain how they created the code, show both backend and front end for the project.
- Parents will be the virtual audience and act as spectators to see what their kids are working on every day and what they have created with the learned knowledge
- Option to mingle & ask questions to the teacher after the presentations.
Kids will work with their teacher long before it’s their time to present to ensure preparation and confidence. This is your kiddo’s time to shine!
These are just some of the latest events happening at Code Galaxy in conjunction with the beginning of the school year. We’re so happy to be part of your children’s academic life and we want to do everything in our power to help you raise intelligent, confident, and well-rounded kids. We can’t wait to see you at Demo Week!
