How Code Galaxy Helps Morgan Thrive and Deepen STEM Knowledge

It is with great pleasure to share STEM knowledge with students and foster a fertile environment for kids to learn and develop a lasting passion in coding. Code Galaxy has grown to work with a growing amount of young and brilliant minds. As we continue on the mission to ignite the creative spark of future creators, it is time we begin sharing about some of our current student success stories. To start, we got to catch up with one of our star-students, Morgan, as she shares a little bit about her background and how online coding classes helped deepen her passion in STEM.

Coding Teaches Skill, Our Classes Inspire Personal Growth

In just one year’s time, Morgan has accomplished a lot as a Code Galaxy student and is already building on concepts learned. From learning fundamental coding skills, developing a passion for STEM and building up confidence, hearing her experience with our online coding classes for kids serves as a pivotal reminder for the future we are collectively paving toward.

 

Deepened interest in coding into a passion

Before Morgan enrolled in online coding classes, she had already noticed a curiosity developing within STEM-related topics. In a recent call, Morgan shared, “I really liked doing tech and I was interested in the way people made games and kind of controlled the computer.” This isn’t the first time we have heard about student’s having a behind-the-scenes fascination toward their favorite games and how they functioned.

 

Watching Morgan’s interest blossom into a passion for all things coding has been an inspiration to the approach we take in designing our courses. Through a gamified approach, Code Galaxy instructors teach foundational concepts in coding like events, variables, and loops, to name a few. Not only does this make the learning environment a fun place to be, but it also helps young students grasp concepts in a useful and applicable way.

 

Inspired to continue learning and move onto more advanced courses

After starting her coding journey with Scratch I, our introductory course geared toward block-based visual programming, Morgan couldn’t wait to take what she learned and apply it to the next online coding classes for kids course. “Right now I’m working on Scratch II. I think that Scratch I was really, really fun because it kind of teaches you the basics so you can start getting into more advanced coding,” Morgan adds as she talks about her progress.

 

 

A lot of our students enjoy the ability to compound knowledge learned in previous courses which can be applied as they move to more sophisticated topics. In using Scratch as an example, Morgan developed a skill for understanding the basics of a high-level block based language and is now able to create more complex games in Scratch II building upon the concepts learned in the introductory course.

 

Hearing experiences like Morgan’s is proof that learning STEM doesn’t have to be all seriousness and no play. We’ve noticed by cultivating a fun environment, more and more kids are able to see beyond the illusion that coding is hard and discover a new hobby that can be pursued as a lucrative career down the road.

Established self-confidence with teacher’s support

If our online coding classes for kids do anything, it is in the lasting impact our instructors leave on students from understanding complex topics to believing in themselves as industry leaders. In her previous course, Morgan worked with one of our top-of-the-line STEM professionals, Ms. Salma.

 

“She’s really confident and she helps me feel confident. I enjoy seeing her smiling face because she is always smiling,” Morgan added during the video call.

 

Reflections like this are what matters most to us. Not only are our classes designed to thoughtfully challenge students and expand their minds, but so are our team of professionals who lift their students up in strengthening self-confidence and developing a “can-do” attitude.

Despite the STEM industry being a catalyst in the development of our world offering high paying jobs, what does any of that mean if the people behind the software lack the passion and confidence needed to make a lasting impact in the lives of their own and those they touch with their creations? Whether a student decides to pursue coding as a career or stick to it as a hobby, the lasting impact left on personal development is the cherry on top.

 

“It’s budget-friendly, socially friendly, academically achievable and fun for the kids and staff is great,” Morgan’s mom added. “We literally have nothing to complain about. This is something we look forward to every week and will continue in the future because it has been such a positive experience.”
