Special Holiday Events & Even More New Courses

It’s been quite some time since our last major update announcement at Code Galaxy — about a quarter of a year, in fact (time moves fast when you’re writing code). But what an exciting announcement it was!

Our new Roblox course quickly became one of the fastest courses for new & veteran middle school students to enroll in — although Python programming still sits on the throne as one of the most popular and useful programming languages for kids AND adults to learn.

The first Demo Week went well. With Demo Week, kids finally have the opportunity to Show and Tell the creative projects they work so hard to perfect. Parents enjoy Demo Week as well, and, of course, our instructors couldn’t be prouder of the amazing work done by the students.

But, since then, we’ve been tremendously busy! New classes, new programs, new events, new camps, new EVERYTHING.

We’ve shared some messages here and there via email and social media, but this is the scoop on what we’ve been up to for the last quarter plus more to come!

Badge Program Takes Off

In September, we launched a shiny new Code Galaxy Badge Program designed to reward students in a couple of different ways. Kids rack up points for their attendance, participation, and dedication to their online coding classes.

Badges are earned based on points accrued, which makes for a fun way for parents, fellow students, and even themselves to see where they rank in experience — from Cadet (just getting started) to Admiral (long-time Code Galaxy vets with coding skills that can give professional programmers and software engineers a run for their money).

Points can be redeemed for amazing prizes, ranging from posters and hats, to gift cards and a NINTENDO!

Discord Server to Help Us Stay Connected

As many students and parents already know, the Code Galaxy Discord Server went live during the last quarter as well. Now, it’s even easier for kids and parents to come together as a community and chat, ask questions, stay updated on what’s happening at Code Galaxy, and more.

We also use Discord to announce our latest deals and events so that the active members of the Code Galaxy family get dibs on best prices and seats before the general public.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day Camp

In honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day (and in appreciation of the time off), we hosted our annual two-day camp from October 11th to the 12th, where kids of all ages got the opportunity to explore the world of STEM — some for the very first time EVER!

Happiest of Halloweens

We want to recap the highlight of Code Galaxy’s Halloween, which was a scary costume competition and trivia day hosted on October 29th. Students participated in an exciting day of class that was 100% dedicated to Halloween. After trivia, the teacher held a costume competition where kids voted for the top three scariest costumes — podium winners earned a few hundred points each, while everyone who participated got to add another 50 to their plate!

But what made 2021 the BEST Halloween in the history of Code Galaxy was the FREE Halloween workshop for new students. Kids who attended the workshop created a special Halloween-themed project from the ground up.

Those who took part in the spooky festivities know what we mean. Those who didn’t will still get to benefit from some creative new events that stemmed from the Code Galaxy Halloween month — we’re talking free Holiday Coding Workshops.

New FREE Holiday Workshops

Because of the buzz (and pure excitement from students) around our first-ever holiday workshop, we’ve elected to put on two more workshops on three different dates between now and the end of the year.

CAD: 3D Modeling and Design

It seems as though our middle school-aged kids are a bit spoiled at Code Galaxy as we’ve also come out with CAD, our brand new computer science course for 6th to 8th grade!

CAD (computer-aided design) is a web-based 3D modeling and design application that is used by engineers, architects, and other professionals to help them better visualize a construction or other project by producing more accurate designs that can be examined and altered.

CAD is challenging and fun — and with top CAD designers earning nearly $300,000 a year, there are plenty of incentives to give your kid the headstart they deserve and enroll them in our CAD program now!

Finally, speaking of new courses and career-worthy skill-building, we’ve got yet another unique course in the works.

Coming Soon: Graphic Design Course

Do you have a natural creative in the family? Does your kid have an affinity for visuals or art? If so, our newest course – Graphic Design – is the perfect way for them to hone in on their natural talents while learning to combine them with the necessary theoretical, mathematical, computer, and software skills to succeed not only inside our class, in a college of arts, or a lucrative career in design, but to have the opportunity to practice a field that is rewarding in its own right.
